After months of renovations, the Zoo’s Tropical House has been transformed and re-opened on April 20th as Toucan Ridge in Assiniboine Park. Visitors are invited to explore a new world tropical oasis featuring plants and animals from South and Central America. It was a pleasure collaborating with the (now) ClarkHuot/ team on this project, to help promote the new exhibit the city had just opened up.
While the toucan is at home in the tropical forests of South and Central America, he is recognized everywhere he goes. His 7.5-inch-long beak may look intimidating, but it is actually better adapted for feeding than fighting. The toucan’s colourful markings serve as effective camouflage in the rainforest.
